Contrast

LI: To use AI to create a image that shows the contrast betweent events and charters

Today in our reading we were useing AI to help us make a picture that discripes the story that we were reading. We were also learing well we were doing this DLO and we were using our prompts to help us get our picture and well we were learning it helped me understand what we are doing and what I  needed to change in my prompt it also helps me with what I need to do and what I need to answer it can help me understand what I need to improve on and what I need to get more on what my qusitons say.I helps me answer qusitions and it helps me understand the story that we were doing today in reading.

Shearer’s Strike

For Reading we have been learning about “Shearers strike of 1891” and we were challenged by our teachers into putting this text into perspectives ( perspectives is two different opinions and our own opinion with different sides of their story and what they think) between the Shearers and the Pastoralist, The Shearers fought for their right because the prices for the wool had dropped, they persuaded other Shearers ( Shearers are people who cut the wool off the sheep) to stop working because they felt it was unfair that they were not getting paid fairly, basically they protested with the pastoralist to give a better pay and work conditions. But  the Pastoralist ( Farmers/ Landowners ) dropped the pay for the shearers because they had dropped the prices of the wool so they wanted to get more sales. They thought it made more sense to drop the pay of the workers because they needed to get more sales than they already had. They also thought it was the  right thing to do and so they tried to include the police and the government to agree with their perspective. In our opinion we agree with both perspectives because the Shearers they work hard and are not earning a lot of money to pay bills and money to pay for food to feed themselves and their children. The Pastoralists are also right because they need to drop the price of the wool because they are not getting enough sales from how expensive the wool is. I found this interesting because we got to learn about the different sides of perspectives and how my group collaborated and all participated in this activity.

RISE UP – The story of the dawn raids and the Polynesian panthers

For this task we were challenged to create a DLO explaing what happened during the dawn raids, My group created a  DLO about the Polyneisian Panthers and the Dawn raids and our question was, should the Government of today (2021) have apologised for the dawn raids of yesterday (1970s)?  The dawn raids of the 1970s involves several considerations. The prime minister was apologizing on the behalf of the government in 2021. An apology could acknowledge the pain that they have caused over the past years towards the Pacific community. The pakeha didn’t treat the Polynesian Panthers fairly throughout their entire lives, creating generational trauma for the youngs one to pass on when they are older. Our opinion was that the government of today (2021) should apologise for the past actions of the dawn raids from yesterday (1970) to insure no other public outcries occur and so no other families hold any grudges / anger. The dawn raids back then was unacceptable and caused generational trauma.

Kuaka Infographic

For our (reading) task we learnt about the Kuaka bird and where it travels daily around New Zealand. I went on Google maps to trace the path the kuaka took to migrate but first I  search up where does the kuaka bird travel around New Zealand when  they migrated from Alaska. We all know we got a lot of questions why can’t the kuaka bird just stay in one place around New Zealand. The food that that the Kuaka bird eats is Worms , Shellfish and Insects they usually eat it around Coastal Areas like beaches. They stop around New Zealand to refuel their body to have energy to fly to Alaska to their breeding grounds. Something i found interesting was that we got to learn where they traveled.

Dot to Dot Connections

LI: To draw the lines between the words to show how the connections you have made.

For this acitvity I’m talking about how we had learned about the kuaka birds. If you collaborated say what this means and how this helped you combine your knowledge, This activity was fun because we got to learn about the Kuaka bird and what it could do. We were working in our Reading groups, We we’re talking to each other to get information. We listened to everyone’s ideas.

Soemthing I found interesting was that we got to learn about the kuaka bird.

Kuaka migration.

For this activity we needed to create a map that shows how long the kuaka birds fly for and where the kuaka birds migrate to.

Kuaka birds, also known as bar-tailed godwits, love to hang out near the water, especially in places like estuaries, mudflats, beaches, and coastal marshes, where they find lots of yummy food.

Every year, as winter approaches, the Kuaka fly north to the breeding grounds of Alaska, stopping off in Korea and Japan for a rest and some food on the way. On the return journey, as our summer approaches, they fly directly to New Zealand, a trip of endurance with no food, water, or rest; nearly 12,000 km non-stop.

Mrs Spider’s Beautiful Web – Summarising

LI : Summarise main events.
LI : Summarise the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

This week for reading Miss Tele’a was talking about Mrs Spider’s Beautiful Web. We were learning to do summarising which means saying something in a shorter way. We used a paper to write down what happened in the beginning, middle and end of the book. I told my group what to write for the beginning. Then we put it on our slides. I did well at choosing my spider to put on the slide. Here is our work :
